Irish Genealogy Events JANUARY

In January 2026, you will find several events focused on Irish genealogy research and family history.

THE IRISH ANCESTRAL RESEARCH ASSOCIATION (TIARA) is hosting an event on Zoom.

Date: Saturday, Jan. 3, 2026
Time: 11 a.m.–1 p.m. EST
Focus: Breaking Down Irish Brick Walls: Successful Case Studies in Identifying Places of Origin. Case studies and strategies to identify Irish places of origin for ancestors, with techniques relevant for US-Irish research

Do all of your U.S.-based records for your Irish immigrant ancestors list only “Ireland” as the place of origin? Are you unable to trace your ancestry further back in Irish records without knowing the county or townland? This is a common frustration for many researchers with Irish heritage. Professional genealogist Kerri Tannenbaum will present several case studies to illustrate strategies and provide tips and techniques that may help you find your ancestors’ location in Ireland.

This meeting will be available via Zoom only.  Register HERE.

THE UNITED IRISH CULTURAL CENTER in San Francisco, Calif., is hosting the Irish Genealogy Club meeting in person and on Zoom.

Date: Saturday, Jan. 10, 2026
Time: 11 a.m.–1 p.m.
Focus: Irish genealogy discussion and club session, topic: “The U.S. Legal System for Genealogists”

This is a hybrid meeting, Zoom and in person. Register HERE

And if you happen to be in Castlebar, the MAYO GENEALOGY GROUP (in partnership with the National Museum of Ireland/Country Life) meets in person this month at the Museum of Country Life

Date: Saturday, Jan. 10, 2026
Time: 11:30 a.m.– 1 p.m.

Location: National Museum of Ireland – Country Life, Turlough Park, Castlebar, Co. Mayo, Ireland

This is a voluntary, informal group brought together by a keen interest in genealogy. Members enjoy sharing their successes and pitfalls, collective experience and detective work to give other researchers a guiding hand. New researchers are welcome.

No booking required. You can find out more HERE

Are you hosting or attending other Irish genealogy events around the world that we should share? Please send your listing to info@byancestry.com and we will add it to our growing database. Thank you!
